The next level of training available to the Manitoba GSAR network is the Team Leader program.  This program was developed with the primary objective of ensuring that all Teams, trained or untrained were being lead by a competent and well trained individual who was trained to ensure the safety of the Team at all times, as well as to effectively carry out the objectives for the search mission.

Team Leaders are normally members who have gained years of experience at the GSAR - Basic level, and have gained the necessary skills to provide effective leadership during SAR operations.

The 20 hour Team Leader program reviews the many skills provided in the GSAR – Basic program, but emphasizes the responsibilities of the GSAR Team Leader during SAR operations.  In addition, skills are performed during a night time scenario which adds an additional element of skill and necessary preparation.
