
Equipment
The Office of the
Fire Commissioner is well equipped to support a variety of
emergency response situations including supporting Ground Search
and Rescue Efforts. Much of the equipment is multipurpose, and is
often used to support a variety of emergency response activities
including Urban and Ground Search and Rescue. Equipment available
to support a Ground Search and Rescue effort through the Office of
the Fire Commissioner include, but are not limited to the
following:

Self sustaining mobile camp, capable of
supporting up to 60 persons

Mobile kitchen

Mobile Command Post

Global Positioning System (GPS) transmitters and
receivers

Incident Management Software and computers

Geographic Information System (GIS) software

Communications equipment – VHF and Fleetnet

All Terrain Vehicles ( ATV)

Our equipment is
maintained at an operational level at all times and is stored and
transported in a variety of trailers and response vehicles ranging
in size from 53’ semi tractors to half ton trucks.
As technology advances, and new equipment
becomes available the OFC will continue to test and evaluate for
SAR operations in Manitoba.
