The
Office of the Fire Commissioner is dedicated to the improvement
of the fire service in Manitoba through:
Mutual
Aid System - The
Mutual Aid System is a no charge reciprocal system of emergency
response and assistance that towns, villages and municipalities
in southern Manitoba can access through their local fire departments.
Emergency
Response - Our emergency response role takes on many forms,
depending on the needs of the specific incident as follows:
- supporting
the implementation of the '5'
Step Action Plan;
- assisting
the Fire Chief;
- assuming
control of the situation; at the request of the Fire Chief;
- providing
equipment;
- coordinating
the use of a pool of equipment;
- providing
logistical support (equipment and staff) to police services in
lost person searches;
- providing
logistical support during forest fire season;
- providing
logistical support in the event of flood emergencies; or
- providing
logistical support in hazardous materials incident response.
