K-9 Provincial Search and Rescue Certification

Prerequisite: Member of SARMAN.             

Description: Individual K-9 Search and Rescue evaluations will be conducted for interested students and their canine to test to the Provincial Search and Rescue Standard.  K-9 teams that successfully pass the Provincial Standard will be added to the Provincial K-9 call out list. This list will be maintained by the Office of the Fire Commissioner and provided to teams within the SARMAN volunteer network and the Police agencies who are the authority having jurisdiction within the Province. These certified K-9 teams will also be considered for future openings with CAN TF-4, the Provincial Urban Search and Rescue team.

Provincial standard includes:

• Obedience

• Sociability test

• Person searching

• Article search

• Tracking

Materials: Potential SAR dog and required equipment

Cost: $50.00 per test(certified cheque or money order payable to the Minister of Finance)
