Province of Manitoba Fire Statistics

The Office of the Fire Commissioner (the Agency) collects, analyzes and publishes statistical data on fires which provides detailed information to both the Agency and local authorities. This overview assists in selecting priorities in planning, fire prevention and public education programming which provide Manitobans with practical tools on how to avoid these instances in the future.
The Agency is responsible for:

  1. Collecting and analyzing all fire loss information;
  2. Maintaining the Provincial Fire Database;
  3. Training and supporting all provincial fire report writers; and
  4. Generating statistical reports and responding to statistical requests.

Manitoba’s fire statistics are compiled with the dedicated assistance of numerous jurisdictions within the Province. The Agency would like to acknowledge the fire service, police authorities and insurance industry for their valued input in gathering this information each year. For detailed reporting procedures, visit Manitoba Fire Reporting Procedures.
