Winter 2012 Public Review of the 2010 National Model Construction Codes The Canadian Commission on Building and Fire Codes (CCBFC) is conducting a public review on proposed changes to the 2010 National Model Construction Codes. This public review deals with proposed changes to incorporate energy efficiency for houses and small buildings into Part 9 of the 2010 National Building Code of Canada (NBC). If approved by the CCBFC, these technical changes will be published as revisions and errata to the 2010 NBC near the end of 2012.
This public review runs from January 9 to March 2, 2012 on the National Codes web site, http://www.nationalcodes.nrc.gc.ca

Inspection and Technical Services Manitoba
Inspection and Technical Services is a newly formed division of the Office of the Fire Commissioner. Manitoba Labour's Mechanical and Engineering Branch and the OFC's Codes and Standards section have amalgamated to provide a single-window for engineering and technical safety services when evaluating permit applications or new projects, making the process simpler for builders and contractors.
The Office of the Fire Commissioner - Inspection and Technical Services Manitoba is the Manitoba Government agency responsible for:
- Developing of new and ammending existing Manitoba Building, Plumbing, and Fire Code requirements
- Examining building plans for code compliance
- Issuing building and occupancy permits
- Inspecting buildings, mobile homes, and recreational vehicles
- Providing support to the Manitoba Building Standards Board
- Building permits and inspections;
- Plumbing permits and inspections;
- Fire inspections;
- Boiler, pressure vessel and refrigeration plant inspections;
- Gas and oil-fired equipment inspections and permits;
- Electrical application inspections;
- Elevator and amusement ride inspections;
- Licensing of power engineers, welders, gas fitters and electricians;
- Quality assurance reviews of certain engineering plans and decisions; and
- Quality assurance program reviews for pressure equipment, pressure piping manufacturing and installation.
