CISD Participant
This handout is to be used when a
Critical Incident Stress Debriefing or Defusing is to be done. If possible it
should be handed out before the meeting to help participants understand what
the process is about and what some of the things that may happen.
Critical Incident Information for
Family Members and Friends
This handout is designed for the
family and friends of emergency services/law enforcement personnel after they
have been involved with a critical incident. It will provide information
about some of the reactions their loved one may be experiencing and some tips
on how to be helpful to them.
Understanding Critical Incident Stress
This document is intended for family
and friends as a pre-incident handout. It describes the typical stress
reactions experienced by emergency services/law enforcement personnel after
being involved in a critical incident.
Critical Incidents
and Sleep Problems
Research in Manitoba has shown that
sleep problems are the most common reactions experienced by emergency
services/law enforcement personnel. This handout provides information to help
cope with these sleep problems.
After a Critical
Incident
This document describes what some of
the reactions that individuals may experience after being involved in a
critical incident and some suggestions as what to do to lessen the impact.
Critical
Incident Stress Pre-Deployment Information
This handout is to be used before any major operational deployment. It will
help the responders understand that they may be exposed to critical incident
stress and how it may affect them. Suggestions are also given to help them
cope and how to access additional resources if required.
